Wally on the Wireless.
On Monday the 9th of October 2023, I was invited to BBC Radio Nottingham to talk about the book.
I was interviewed by Andy Whittaker as part of his afternoon show.
I got to speak about what it's like being an adoptee as well as giving the book and blog a plug. At the end of the section I appeared on Andy asked me who Brian was. I explained that it was the darker side of my brain, the bit that caused all the hassle in my head.
After the interview the producer came into the studio to escort me out and went on to tell us that she doesn't have a 'Brian', she has a 'Bridget'. "If ever anything goes wrong I blame Bridget" she told me.
It seems that giving the wobbly bits of a mind a name is not just reserved for me.
Thoroughly enjoyed getting the chance to be on local BBC radio with a fellow Andy, I was a little nervous as all of my publicity has been generated by me from home, either on social media or through podcasts sat on my sofa. This was a big step for Wally, Brian too, he made damn sure I felt every bit the fraud leading up to the broadcast!
But screw him! I win Brian ... This round at least. Get back in your box!
Incidently, about the Podcasts. I've recoreded two so far. One with Lisa Ann at 'Wandering Tree', and another with Margaret at 'Adoptees at work' Both will be out this month (oct).
You can find the interview on BBC Sounds here. (I start 15 minutes in).
